Sude Umac

Sude studied Medical Neuroscience and AI at the University of Sussex, with her work now centred around NeuroAI research and innovation, particularly in epilepsy. She is interested in bringing together neuroscience and AI to explore ways of detecting and responding to seizures.

Sude’s project addresses the challenge that seizures are often unpredictable and difficult to manage in daily life.

She is developing a minimally invasive, behind-the-ear neural interface that can continuously monitor brain activity, forecast seizures using AI, and ultimately deliver targeted intervention through vagus nerve stimulation (VNS). The aim is to develop a wearable device that can detect changes in brain activity and respond to seizures, with the goal of reducing their intensity.

As Blue Sky Fellow, hosted by The Milner Therapeutics Institute, Sude will explore: A behind-the-ear neural interface for seizure forecasting and vagus nerve stimulation.
